The Park
Panna National Park issituated in Chattarpur district of central Indian state Madhya Pradesh. It is situated at the distance of around 57 km from Khajuraho. The park was established in the year 1981 with a mission to save tigers & other endangered wild life species in the region. The area covers 543 Sq-Km & considered as home to some of the best wildlife species in India. The area around the tiger reserve is famous for diamond mining industry. Another specialty of Panna National park is its popularity among wild life lovers as one of the best Tiger Reserves in the world. The Parkis also known worldwide for its diversity of wildcats, leopards, deer & antelope.
Fauna
Diverse fauna in & around the park includes a good number of Tiger, Panther, Blue bull (Neelgai), Sambhar, Chinkara, Spotted deer, Bear, Wild dog, Wolf, Jackal, Monkey & other mammals. The park is home to a variety of big & small reptiles such as snakes & lizards and amphibians like frogs, Crocodiles, Gharials etc. One may spot various species of birds too. It is for sure that once you are in Panna, you can’t keep yourself from getting fascinated by extravagantly colorful peacocks & natural sights.
Flora
The flora in & around the park includes the trees of Tendu, Saja, Achar, Seja, Salai, Kullu, Aonla, Mahua, Bel etc. The landscape is rocky & the geography is uneven. The vegetation comprises tall grass and scrubby bushes.
Major attraction in the park are Tiger, wolf, chittal, sloth bear, chinkara and crocodiles.

The climate of the region is tropical. So during Summers heat can be intolerable though this is the time when you may have the maximum chances of encountering the exclusive wildlife of this park. Winters are cold & the temperature range generally remains below 25°C. Monsoon touches the region in July and continues till mid of September.
The Panna National Park is open year-round, but it is advisable to visit in the winter season.

By Air: Khajuraho at the distance of 30 km is the nearest airport.
By Road: Nearest Bus station is Panna.

Dos & Don’t s
o Most safaris into the park start from the Madla village. The entrance on the eastern side is from Hindouta, located at an approachable distance from the Panna diamond mines. The Park administration charges some entry from the visitors which may vary person to person.
oPark timings are from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM & 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM so please be on time to avoid any discomfort.
o Check on the timings and reach half an hour early before park gates open to complete the required formalities.
o Respect the rules of the park and do not venture into restricted areas.
o Do not try and feed the animals and avoid wearing flashy colors that could attract or irritate the wild animals.
o Do not litter, carry all the garbage outside the park and dispose off in a suitable area.
o Maintain silence in & around the park.
o Respect the Nature.
